Background

The Hotel School of the Waterberg TVET College is situated along the main road, Thabo Mbeki Drive, in Mokopane. The Hotel School is in operation since 10 January 2011.

The main purpose for building the Hotel School is to give students the opportunity to be trained in an industry-related environment.

The Hotel School will cater for the following:

  • Conference Facilities (2 Boardrooms as well as a 48-seater Auditorium)
  • Bed and Breakfast
  • Take Away/Fast Food Cafeteria
  • Fully licensed Restaurant and Bar

Students will be given the opportunity to prepare food in a fully equipped industry-related kitchen. For example: Cold storage, Vegetable preparation, Meat preparation, Special diet, Pastry etc. Over and above food preparation, students will receive training in laundry, servicing of bedrooms, waitering, customer services in the reception area, stock keeping etc.

The NCV Hospitality and Tourism programmes from the Department of Educations concentrate on exposing students more too practical training rather than on the theory part of training.

Recapitalisation Funds enabled the college to build this highly modern state of the art training facility. This facility will contribute to the growth of the Hospitality and Tourism industry in the Limpopo Province and will attract students and tourists form all over South Africa. This facility will also ensure that young people who want to do training in Hospitality and Tourism do not migrate to other Provinces where such facilities are available.
